WHAT IS THE STATUS OF THE CX-G6400 AND SCC-4000D?
Canon's US store lists its CX-G6400 as discontinued. SwiftColor currently markets its oversized credential printer under the CX-G6400 name, describing it as formerly SCC-4000D.
Confirm the exact brand, SKU, hardware and current availability with ID Security Online before ordering. The older SCC-4000D name should not be treated as a separate new-generation model. Existing owners should also check model-specific support and supplies.
CAN I USE ORDINARY PVC CARDS IN AN INKJET CREDENTIAL PRINTER?
Use media specifically approved for the printer's inkjet system. Ordinary PVC cards intended for dye-sublimation printers are not automatically suitable for inkjet printing.
Check the card coating, dimensions and thickness. Request a sample print when testing a new badge stock or design.
DO THESE PRINTERS REQUIRE RIBBONS, ENCODERS OR LAMINATORS?
The inkjet models in this category use ink tanks rather than a dye-sublimation color ribbon. Choose the ink and maintenance cartridge specified for the exact printer.
Printing a barcode is different from encoding a magnetic stripe or chip. Encoding and lamination require separately verified hardware; do not assume that a credential printer includes either capability.
