Only High Definition Printers are qualified!

High Definition Printing (HDP) vs Direct To Card (DTC)
HDP DTC
  • Card images are reverse-printed to the underside of the HDP Film
  • It is fused to the card surface for a virtually tamper-proof card
  • This process yields a higher quality image
  • Card images are printed directly onto the card surface
  • Can print images over the edge of the card
  • Can print cards edge-to-edge, but not over the edge
  • HDP printheads print onto the film, instead of the surface
  • Printed images can go right up to the edge of a smart card contact chip
  • Can be damaged if they pass over the slightly raised smart card contact chip
  • Design must leave a clear space around the chip to be protected
  • HDP Film fuses smoothly over the dips and bumps of these cards
  • This creates a consistently high-quality card image
  • DTC printheads print directly on to the card
  • This results to irregular print quality, especially over the embedded electronics
